Description

Steam distilled from the dried fruit of the woody vine, black pepper essential oil is a thin, colorless to pale green-yellow liquid with a sharp middle note and a dry, warm, spicy aroma. Prized for its ability to relieve digestive problems, black pepper is one of the oldest documented culinary spices, with a history of use that dates back through pre-roman times. Great for spicing up a blend and invigorating mental acuity, it has a warming effect when used topically and is considered effective in decreasing cravings associated with bad habits, such as smoking or overeating. It is reported to have aphrodisiac qualities and supports a healthy nervous system. Its warming effect eases tired muscles, and it is known to stimulate appetite as well as ease gas pain.

Essential oils are potent, and a little bit goes a long way. Do not use essential oils undiluted directly on the skin as they can cause irritation. Keep away from children, and do not apply near the eyes, mucous membranes, sensitive or broken skin. Every individual reacts differently to essential oils: Always perform a ‘test patch’ properly diluted in carrier oil to determine sensitivity. Avoid using when pregnant except on the advice of a qualified practitioner, as outlined above.
