Steam distilled from the leaves and flowers of the plant, patchouli essential oil is a clear, medium yellow liquid with a medium base fragrance note. Its earthy, smoky, musky, spicy and exotic aroma is incense like and instantly recognizable. Its use dates to 18th century Asia, when it was used to scent fabrics for shipping, prized for its efficiency in repelling moths and other insect infestations. Diffuse for a relaxing sense of peace and calm; used in meditative practice to align the chakras, release negative feelings and insecurities and to ground the psyche in the moment. Dilute in carrier oil for use in skin care preparations or as a deodorant.

• Add a couple of drops to a tablespoon of shampoo to help soothe a dry, flaky scalp
• Also can be added to cornstarch (4-6 drops per teaspoon of powder) and used as a deodorizing body powder
• Add 5 drops to face wash or lotion to balance dry or oily skin. Patchouli regenerates new skin cells making it great for all skin types
• To combat the blues, soak in a warm bath of Patchouli. Dilute 10 drops in a tablespoon of carrier oil, honey or full fat milk and add to water after the tub is filled
• Inhale directly from the bottle to increase libido or ease anxiety
