Steam distilled from the dried root of the ginger plant, its oil is straw yellow in color, exhibiting a strong middle note. Its invigorating, warm, earthy and spicy scent has lemony notes, and when diffused helps to stimulate mental acuity and alertness and stimulate the appetite. It is also known to ease a nervous stomach, motion sickness or morning sickness in pregnant women. Its warming effect has many beneficial mechanisms when used topically. Dilute to 1% in carrier oil or add a couple of drops to a warm bath to stimulate circulation and to ease joint pain and inflammation and lift the mood.
