Description

Peppermint essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the perennial herb, producing a clear liquid with a strong top fragrance note. Its minty aromas promote clarity and mental agility, but it is also widely used to treat gastro-intestinal discomfort, bowel spasms, and pain relief from headaches. It has antiseptic properties when used topically, but diffused or vaporized it can be effective in relieving mild inflammation or for reducing stress and anxiety. Dilute in carrier oil for a soothing muscle rub or to invigorate the skin. Some cautions should be noted: pregnant women or those with epilepsy should avoid using peppermint essential oil, and it should not be combined with any homeopathic remedies.
