Cold pressed from the kernels (nuts) of the almond tree, sweet almond oil is a light golden colored, medium-weight oil with little discernable scent. Widely used by massage therapists due to its ability to lubricate without leaving an oily residue, almond oil absorbs easily into the skin and has deeply moisturizing, emollient qualities. Excellent as a base for massage oils and bath preparations or for lotions suitable for use on the face, it contains high concentrations of vitamin A and E and is rich in EFA’s (essential fatty acids). Keeps for up to a year if stored away from heat and direct sunlight. Can be refrigerated after opening to extend shelf life. Since almond is a tree nut, it should not be used by those with tree nut or other nut allergies.

Essential oils are often too strong to apply undiluted to the skin and evaporate rapidly. This is where a good carrier oil comes into play. They do not evaporate or have a very overpowering aroma and so blend well with essential oils making them less volatile. This combination is perfect for all forms of body massage.

  • Add a Tru Gardens 100% essential oil to the carrier oil for a pain relieving massage. It absorbs easily into the skin and doesn’t evaporate
  • For earache: warm a tablespoon in hot water and put 2-3 drops of Almond carrier oil in the spoon and pour it into the affected ear, allowing it flow down the ear canal
  • Apply it directly to your hair to treat split ends or frizzy hair
  • Apply a few drops beneath the bottom of your eyelid before you go to bed to alleviate puffiness

On the recommendation of the International Federation of Aromatherapists, TruGardens does not endorse taking essential oils internally unless specifically directed and prescribed by a qualified healthcare practitioner who is also trained in clinical aromatherapy. Avoid using during pregnancy, or if you suspect you might be pregnant, except on the advice of a qualified practitioner. Store all essential oil products safely out of reach of children. Essential oils are potent, and a little bit goes a long way. Do not use essential oils undiluted directly on the skin as they can cause irritation. Keep away from children, and do not apply near the eyes, mucous membranes, sensitive or broken skin. Every individual reacts differently to essential oils: Always perform a ‘test patch’ properly diluted in carrier oil to determine sensitivity. TruGardens does not in any way support the use of these products for the diagnosis, treatment, cure or prevention of any disease.
